    I can’t believe CN spoiled the entire episode without anyone noticing.

    Literally everything on here happened.

    You fantasy writers trying to make your maps all pretty and even with a nicely dissectable “north” and “south” and neat kingdoms in boxes, but have you ever seen a real map before?

    • Croatia steals three county’s shares of the waterfront on the Adriatic Sea.
    • Lesotho is literally encircled by the country of South Africa on all sides.
    • Chile spans half the length of a continent but it’s the width of the world’s largest needle.
    • Half the fucking globe is a peninsula on top of a peninsula, reaching for a damn island.
    • Except those islands, everything connects to something else.

    Stop making worlds that look like Westeros Great Britain had a child with a rectangle! Be creative! Give your maps some diversity and life and story! Have fun with it!

    Thanos, a philosophy and economics double major who thinks once you eat a plant it will never grow back: i have to slaughter half the universe’s population with the infinity stones, so that no one ever runs out of resources and starves

    Thor, a phys ed and linguistics major with a minor in women’s studies, taking a sip of his strawberry protein shake: can’t you just use the infinity stones to create more resources tho?

    Okay so that has Bad Take™ written all over it and I’m so sorry you had to see that anon

    Like here’s a peak at just a few of the things that the Paladin’s did to Lotor

    Focusing on Article 3 specifically of the Geneva Conventions section on Prisoners of War,

    Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.
    To this end, the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:

    a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;
    b) taking of hostages;
    c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and de- grading treatment;
    d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.

    To start off with; Lotor continued to stand down when Allura kept attacking, only stopping once she triggered him/realizing that words are futile by this point

    Second, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria. I think it’s pretty obvious that Lotor’s treatment was founded on race the moment Allura called him the leader of the most bloodthirsty race of murderers the universe has ever known. A statement that also includes people that are her allies, The Blade of Marmora. It became founded on race again the moment Allura started comparing Lotor to his father again, because clearly it was the Galra in Lotor that made him this way.

    a) Throwing Lotor hard enough to knock him unconscious (S6E4) eventually murdering him with a giant nuclear weapon (S6E6)
    b) Used Lotor as a hostage (S5E2) sending him to certain death, an act that was more than likely not discussed with their allies with the Coalition and BoM until after the event
    c) Defaming Lotor by comparing him to his father and by saying his entire race is full of bloodthirsty murderers so he must be as well, questioning his dignity
    d) Ummmm Season Six, episodes four through six should be enough evidence to show how bad they fucked up here

    Also to anyone wanting to try argue, go for it, but the thing is

    We have evidence for what the Paladins have done, solid evidence in fact because we see them commit these acts first hand

    Lotor on the other hand?

    We got a story from a girl who even admitted she didn’t know the whole thing, a half assed investigation by two ‘spies’ who are never shown to have done any investigating of their own when on the colony, and so many holes that swiss cheese is jealous.

    So I dare you to try that same scenario in a court of law dealing with war criminals and see how it goes, cause I am willing to bet that Lotor would win this trial.

    This seems ‘minor’ in comparison to everything else, but leaving a Lotor in a cell with the lights on all the time, is tantamount to solitary confinement. It is considered a form of torture. They bled him dry of all of tactical information before handing him back to the murderer he was seeking asylum from.

    Nah not minor actually very good points, especially the cell with the lights on seemingly all the time and solitary confinement.

    It just baffles me that people still somehow see the Paladins as wholly good when clearly they are anything but.

    Willful ignorance is strong in them it seems.

    And remember, by attacking someone who came to talk, killing him in the rift, and thus creating the 3 year time skip they destabilized an empire which then slaughtered their allies, gave Sendak 3 years to fuck over Earth, and gave Honerva/Haggar 3 years to go about her evil business undisturbed. Billions died across realities because the Paladins decided, on the word of one Altean who admits she doesn’t have the whole story and some circumstantial evidence to self righteously play judge, jury, and executioner. The show suffers from a protagonist centered morality that gets worse over the course of the show.

    On a side note, while eye witness testimony is very emotionally compelling, it is frequently unreliable. There is a ton of research on this. Our memory storage is not as clean as a computer saving a video file for us to replay at anytime.

    On a tangential note (because my brain be like that), @oneamahira is the expert witness we need in The Voltron Trials. If we’re going to write this thing, I need help, I need a legal team, expert witnesses, researchers. Whaddya say, @legendofcarl? @devilsofficialfanfic is already on board! My background is healthcare… so like, I can tell when people are sick. That’s about it. Like Lotor was probably dehydrated and headachy after flying himself into the surface of the sun. That’s all I know.

    I spent like, 3 hours last night reading up on international law re: the Geneva Conventions and will probably begin my rewatch with that in mind sometime this week

    I can my in my two cents forensic wise (M.S. Forensic Biology and half of my B.S. Anthropology was also forensic/criminal justice) to add:

    - science that proves most eyewitness statements are faulty

    -one eyewitness (Romelle) admitting she doesn’t know the whole truth

    -two eyewitnesses basing their statements off of previous said faulty statement (Keith and Krolia)

    -said confession of Lotor is merely a statement never followed up on

    - and given under duress

    -and assaulted while under questioning

    -extreme and multiple breaks in presumption of innocence

    -extreme lack of physical evidence

    -failure to prove guilt, and specifically prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt

    Fuck YES PLEASE! THANK YOU!

    Sigh, I love this place.

    I am here for this. All of this.
